Uptoday is a school calendar and reminder app. Parents do not create an account. The app lets a parent enter a school join code, view public school event information and choose optional notification preferences.

Information stored on your device

The parent app stores joined schools, the selected school, notification choices, reminder choices and a recent copy of school events on your device. This lets Uptoday remember your choices and show recent information offline.

Information from schools

Participating schools publish their school name, public contact details and event information. Uptoday displays this information to parents who follow the school.

Notifications

If you give permission, Uptoday can schedule reminders at 6:00 p.m. Toronto time on the day before an event. You can decline or change notification permission in your device settings.

Personal information

The parent app does not ask for your name, email address, password or parent profile. Uptoday does not sell personal information or use parent data for advertising.

Service providers

Uptoday uses Firebase for school and event data, Expo for the mobile application and notifications, and Cloudflare to host its websites. These providers may process technical information needed to operate and secure their services.

Your choices

You can turn notifications off in your device settings. Removing the app removes its locally stored school choices, preferences and cached event data.

Questions

During the Toronto pilot, parents can ask their participating school office to raise a privacy question with the Uptoday pilot team. School staff can use the school portal.
